As chairman of the board of Metro AG, Germany’s largest retail group, Klaus Wiegandt was one of the most important German business managers in the retail sector.

In 2000 he stepped down and left the industry, founded the “Forum für Verantwortung” (Forum for Responsibility) foundation and published a series of 13 books on sustainability.

In 2005 he launched the “The Sustainability Project” (Mut zur Nachhaltigkeit) that organizes lectures, colloquiums and further education seminars for teachers, managers and opinion leaders.
