Jakob von Uexküll is a German-Swedish philosopher, economist and author of the book “We Owe It To Our Children” (Das Sind Wir Unseren Kindern Schuldig).
In 1980 he sold his collection of stamps and created the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize”. Winners of the award are individuals or initiatives who find and successfully implement solutions to the most urgent problems of our time.
In 2007 he founded the World Future Council, which comprises 50 prominent scientists, activists, and politicians, and which provides a global representation of the interests of future generations in today’s politics.
Jakob von Uexküll lives and works in London.
