Dirk Messner is Director of the German Development Institute (Deutsches Institut für Entwicklung) in Bonn, one of the world’s most widely recognized institutes for global governance.

Global governance involves negotiating internationally binding agreements between the nations of the world to prevent ecological disasters and to serve as a basis for more just globalization.

In 2007 Dirk Messner founded the Global Governance School, where young economists and politicians from emerging nations and from the West come together to develop common approaches to global issues.
