Stéphane Hessel is a former diplomat and political activist, a former member of the French Resistance in WW2, and is a concentration camp survivor.
In New York in 1948 he contributed to the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
In 2002 he founded the Collegium International, an organization that brings together scientists, philosophers, diplomats and past and present heads of state and government from all over the world in order to propose concrete steps to solve global problems.
In 2010 he wrote the essay TIME FOR OUTRAGE! in which he calls on people to watch out for and to fight injustice with non-violent means. The book has sold millions of copies and inspired protest movements around the world.
